State Senator James Seward announced legislation to aid the Schenevus Central District is now signed into law. The bill authorizes advanced state aid payments of $500,000 and establish a long-term plan to stabilize the school district’s finances. The district which is currently operating with a $700,000 budget deficit will receive reduced state aid payments over the next 30 years. Recently state comptroller Thomas DiNapoli recently designated Schenevus as one of five school districts in the state facing significant financial distress.
