Major League Baseball has thrown the first dagger in the Biogenesis case. Milwaukee Brewers slugger Ryan Braun has been suspended by MLB without pay for the remainder of the 2013 season.

This from MLB:  Braun will not contest the suspension which was meted out for "violations of the Basic Agreement and its Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program."  In other words, this is a result of Braun's continued involvement with Biogenesis.

The suspension includes the remaining 65 games of the Brewers' season and any potential 2013 postseason games.  The Brewers likely will not make the playoffs, however.

Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez is expected to be next and that suspension could reach as many as 150 games.  A-Rod returned to the disabled list recently with a grade one quad strain.
