Remington Arms, which has operated out of Illion for nearly 200 years, may be shopping for a new home out of state.

The Tennessean, a newspaper based in Nashville, reported Tuesday that officials from Remington had scouted locations in the Volunteer State. The report did not name source, only "people familiar with Remington."

The report claims Remington is considering the move due to the passage of the New York SAFE Act, which bans certain guns, including a type of semi-automatic rifle made at the Illion plant.

The SAFE Act does not prohibit the manufacturing of the weapon, only the sale.
