UTICA, N.Y. (AP) — A pair of peregrine falcons appears to be settling in Utica.

A local media report says that an adult peregrine couple seems to have staked a claim to a nesting box on the Adirondack Bank building.

Local naturalist Matthew Perry told the newspaper he's been receiving reports of falcon visits to the new nest box for about three weeks. Perry said the pair also chased away a younger peregrine who tried to land on the nest box.

Perry believes the falcons have claimed the box and are defending it.
