By a 4 to 3 vote the Otsego County Health Facilities Corporation decided yesterday to sell the 174-bed Otsego Manor nursing home facility, its 18.5 acre site and the alternative home health care program to Focus Ventures of Airmont, New York for $18.5 million.

The three dissenting voters were in favor of selling the facility to VestraCare, which operates Susquehanna Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Johnson City.

Kay Stuligross, chairwoman of the corporation, says the state health department must now conduct a character and competency review of Focus Ventures to ensure it meets the state’s standards for nursing home operators.
