Congratulations to the Otsego County Sheriff's Corrections Division on receiving a merit award for its handling of their department during the COVID-19 pandemic.  It has been a difficult time for many agencies having to deal with the unique problems and hurdles presented by the pandemic.

Otsego County Sheriff Richard Devlin said in presentation of the awards: "The Corrections department was honored for their outstanding service during the pandemic with the award acknowledging that the division displayed character, professionalism and competence while engaging in a multitude of critical activities in support of health and safety measures in keeping with the highest traditions of law enforcement service to our area."

Specific officers who were honored for their service included:

Correction Officer Eric Phillips, Correction Officer of the Year
Correction Officer Thomas Fellrath, Excellence in Duty
Correction Officer Michael Johnson, Excellence in Duty
Correction Officer Megan Jones, Excellence in Duty
Correction Officer Lynda May, Excellence in Duty
Correction Nurse Lynn Baulch, Sheriff’s Award for COVID Response
As if law enforcement doesn't have enough to deal with, the addition of the COVID pandemic has made it all much more problematic.  We salute all the men and women in uniform for their excellence during this time.  A special shout out to the fine officers from the Correction Division who were singled out for commendation. especially Correction Officer Eric Phillips, who was named Otsego County Correction Officer of the Year.
