Oneonta Police Issue New Scam Alert Targeting Seniors

Oneonta Police report they’ve had at least two instances where people are targeting the elderly and pretending to be their family members in efforts to obtain large sums of money. Please verify any and all information received and know who you’re speaking to on the phone. Businesses and government agencies do not call seeking payments over the phone and would never demand a specific form of payment such as a prepaid debit card or gift card.
