October 14 Tri-County Central NY Coronavirus Update
The Otsego County Department of Health is reporting on the latest coronavirus confirmed cases in the county. As of yesterday, OCDH says that there were 5 new cases in the county confirmed over the previous 4 days. Health officials posted the following breakdown of the county's cases:
- 923 total confirmed cases (since beginning of COVID-19 outbreak): 737 of those are linked to SUNY Oneonta and 20 are linked to Hartwick College
- 13 active cases currently residing in the county
- 2 hospitalizations
- 7 deaths
In Delaware County, Delaware County Public Health is reporting that there are 9 known active cases in the county with no hospitalizations related to the virus. Ninety-seven (97) county residents are under mandatory quarantine. Since March there are a total of 135 confirmed cases.
In Chenango County, the NYS Department of Health is reporting that numbers there are starting to climb. The following message was posted yesterday on their facebook page:
"Over the past week we have seen an increase in positive case numbers. A growing number of these positive cases can be attributed to the opening of schools and colleges. Others are related to having contact with a person that lives outside of our county that is positive for Coronavirus and still others are related to our residence who have traveled to other states with high rates of COVID-19 and have returned home and have not voluntarily home quarantined for 14 days. This increase in positive cases is NOT related to a single incident, gathering or group activity."
As of Tuesday, there were 17 active cases with 1 current hospitalization related to the virus and 7 total deaths. 168 people are under mandatory quarantine.
