State Senator Peter Oberacker (R/C – Schenevus) took the oath of office today for his first New York State Senate term representing the 51st Senate District.  Senator Oberacker was sworn in at the Town of Maryland courthouse where his mother, Carol Oberacker, served as a town justice for over two and half decades.  Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Senator Oberacker limited the gathering to a small circle of family and close friends.  Oberacker takes over the seat from longtime area representative Sen. Jim Seward of Milford, who retired this year.
