NYSP Issue 14,000 Tickets Over Thanksgiving

State Troopers wrote nearly 14,000 tickets over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend as part of emphasis patrols statewide. From Nov. 25 through Nov. 29 155 drunk driving arrests were made with nearly 4,900 speeding tickets written. More than 750 acccidents occurred with 3 of those with fatalities. The State Police supplemented regular patrols with sobriety checkpoints, an underage drinker initiative and the “Operation Hang Up” initiative, which utilizes ummarked vehicles to locate drivers talking or texting on handheld devices.
