NYS Suing Over Travel Ban

New York is suing the Trump Administration over the Department of Homeland Security’s decision to ban New Yorkers from the Trusted Traveler Program because the state is issuing driver licenses to undocumented immigrants.

The lawsuit claims the DHS action violates the state’s sovereign immunity and fails to provide New Yorkers equal protection. 13 other states and the District of Columbia have Green Light Laws, but New York is the only state that has been removed from the Trusted Traveler program.
