NYS Senator Akshar Asks Should Vaccination Exemptions End
The latest online survey from New York State Senator Fred Akshar’s office involves an invisible but potentially deadly danger.
The Binghamton Republican is asking residents to weigh in on a Community Voice Survey on a proposal to end religious and any other non-medical exemptions for vaccinations for children attending school in New York State.
Constituents are being asked if they support removing non-medical exemptions, support keeping current non-medical religious exemptions, support only allowing religious exemptions with a physician’s consent, support expanding non-medical vaccination exemptions to include philosophical reasons or if they believe vaccinations for children should not be required by law.
The issue has come to the front-line with new legislation introduced following a huge upsurge in measles in New York State and across the nation.
Most of the cases of measles in New York have been downstate in un-vaccinated populations of a religious community.
