NYS Senate Restores $1M for Lyme Disease Research
The New York State Senate has returned $1 million to the 2019-2020 state budget for research on lyme disease and tick-borne illnesses. The same amount had been allocated in last year’s budget but Governor Andrew Cuomo’s proposal left that finding out. The State Health Department says there are about 9,000 cases of lyme disease and other related illnesses every year. Lyme disease is the most common tick-borne illness in the state.
