Nine people were injured Wednesday morning when a dump truck and van collided near Morrisville-Eaton High School.

At around 7:25 a.m. a minivan owned by the Sherburne-Earlville Central School District was traveling west on Fearon Road in Madison County when it drove through an intersection without stopping. State police say a State Department of Transportation dump truck was heading north on Swamp road at the intersection hitting the van and sending both vehicles down an embankment where both overturned.

The driver, 43-year-old Austin Mullen, was taken to Upstate Medical Center in serious condition via Mercy Flight.

Six staff members from the Sherburne-Earlville Central School District were inside the van and had to be removed by emergency workers. Five others were taken to various area hospitals.

Three Department of Transportation employees were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
