Spring is a special time of the year in Upstate New York.

Whether the winter season has been a long tough one, or a relatively mild one, we all herald the change of seasons and putting winter in our rear view mirror.

Spring means flowers in Upstate New York.  Gardens are ready to be tended, roadside flower stands start to pop up, and all of the big commercial greenhouses, nurseries, and garden centers are ready and waiting for customers to come by and "smell the posies."

In the coming weeks we will look at these blooming places, highlighting a different section of Upstate New York as we cover the area.  This gallery, the first in a series, will look at a handful of some of the best "flower places' in the Finger Lakes region.  You can get almost everything you need at any of these places, including some unusual "surprises" along the way.

And with so many more garden centers and greenhouses than we can list, we encourage you to help out.  Where do you employ your green thumb?  At a local greenhouse or nursery in the Finger Lakes area?  Well, if so, we want to hear from you (if that place did not make our list).  We are confidant that with our reader's input we can come up with a pretty long list of area Spring flower destinations, starting now in the Finger Lakes region.

Thanks!
