When it is game day and your team is under pressure to bring home a win, there is nothing like heading to a sports bar and watching the game with some friends, a couple of cold beers, and some hearty pub grub.  If you are like me, many times that "pub" ends up being one of the big franchise bars that are out there.  Places like Applebees, TGI Fridays, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chili's, etc.  They all have long bars, many TV sets and plenty of ice cold beer.

But something is definitely missing.

This gallery takes a look at a half dozen smaller, neighborhood taverns where you can go to and enjoy a game with a rowdy crowd of co-workers, townies, or even by yourself.  All of these places have character, all have a ton of wide screen television screens to watch every moment on, and, for this gallery, all of them are located in the Hudson Valley region of New York.

So lets leave the big franchises behind and head out to these sports bars.  Each of the bars mentioned has a direct link to the pub, and also a menu suggestion.  A good game, a good beer, and add in some good food and you have yourself the makings of a great afternoon.  All of these places have hot wings (every bar does) but several of them have some very creative menu items that will make you smile.  You will see.

So here's to your favorite team, and here's to your favorite Hudson Valley sports tavern.  And with so many to choose from, if we didn't mention yours, please give it a shout out over on our Facebook page.  And remember, for this gallery only, just those bars in the Hudson Valley area please.

Some Great Game Day Sports Bar Hangouts in the Hudson Valley

If you want to go out with some buddies and watch the big game on a big screen, and have a couple of sips, you have plenty of choices to pick from. But, lets stay away from the big franchises here (Applebees, Buffalo Wild Wings, etc.) and visit these six townie sports taverns for a heck of an afternoon. All are in the Hudson Valley.
