New Phone Scam in Otsego County

Otsego County Sheriff Richard J. Devlin, Jr. advises residents of telephone scams making the rounds. One involves a call from someone claiming to be with the Sheriff’s Office or the IRS requesting personal information. The calls are displaying as the Sheriff’s Office number but this is a cloned number and not actually the Sheriff’s Office calling. The Sheriff’s Office will never ask for money over the phone and you should never give away personal information.
