My wife and I have a KitchenAid mixer in our home, and it's a great addition to the number of gadgets that kind of sit around, rarely getting any use. Well, okay, my wife may dispute that, but, currently, it's kind of buried amongst other tabletop items in our kitchen.

It's not that we don't like it, it's a great product, but we just don't have the need to use it very often, although my wife did recently make me a delicious batch of chocolate chip cookies.

Speaking of KitchenAid mixers, apparently, a person named Joshua C Dotson recently posted on Facebook, what appeared to be a recall on the mixer attachments. The post read as follows:

ATTENTION: Anyone who has a Kitchenaid Mixer with a white paddle and hook attachments. Stop using it immediately! It contains extreme amounts of lead!! The Stainless Steel is ok. You can call the Kitchen Aid number and they will replace it with a metal ones for free. 1-800-541-6390 or 1-800-474-8007. I did it it was super easy! Give them the code on your mixer and they replace them. The calls takes less then 5 minutes!

I had to clear all the crap around our KitchenAid mixer to find our paddle and hook attachments, but when I did, the paddle was white as were the hook attachments. Well, I never believe something like this that posts on Facebook without first checking into it for verification.

True Or False?

The Whirlpool Corporation owns KitchenAid products and while there are some recalls on the Whirlpool Recall page, there is no listing of any KitchenAid mixer attachments being recalled.

I took a look at the Verify website, and sure enough, the site confirmed that there is no recall, citing four sources including the Whirlpool Corporation, the KitchenAid website, the Consumer Product Safety Commission, and the Food and Drug Administration.

So, I'm relieved that my KitchenAid mixer attachments are not a part of any recall. They can continue to gather dust until the next time we fire it up...sometime in the distant future.
