It was school budget election time yesterday in our listening area. With some results still being tabulated, it appears that area district voters were in a positive mood when it came to approval of the school budget proposals, some by a wide margins.

The Oneonta School District was one of the larger proposals approved by voters.  It passed with a vote of 282-78.  The Oneonta City School District also approved the purchase of two buses.  Susan Kurkowski and Michael Iannelli were elected to the school board.

The Delaware Academy Central School (Delhi) budget passed with a vote of 404 to 93.

In South Kortright Central School District, the budget passed by a 186 yes vote to a 61 no vote margin.  Brian Dengler defeated Barb Hanselman for the school board position by a vote of 157 to 90.

The Walton Central School budget passed by a vote of 261 to 88 and there was also the approval of leasing three school buses. Ronda Williams, Tammie Tweedie and Alan Budine were elected to the school board.  Also on the ballot was a vote for approval of the Ogden Free Library budget.  It also passed, 236-114.

In Worcester Central School the vote to pass the school budget was 126 yes, to 54 no votes.  A vote to purchase a new school bus was approved, and William Fisher won the election to the Worcester Central School Board.

The Franklin Central School budget passed with a vote of 135-23.

Among the other school districts that passed their budgets were Jefferson Central School, Schenevus Central School, Andes Central School, Sidney Central School, and many others.

In school districts over the Tri-County area, approval of school district budgets was overwhelming.
