Madison County Man Dead in Shooting in Chenango County
Chenango County Sheriff's officials are investigating the death of man who had been shot while in a home in Sherburne.
Few details about the April 10th incident are being released and a news release from the Sheriff's office does not call the death a homicide.
According to the statement, Sheriff's Deputies responded to a home on Knapp Road in the Town of Sherburne for a reported shooting.
Upon their arrival, Deputies found 39-year-old Joseph M. Hubbard of Poolville, NY deceased inside of the house.
Investigators say the Madison County man had been shot with a rifle while inside the house.
There were also two other adults and children inside the residence at the time of the incident. The parties involved were known to each other.
Authorities say there is no danger to the public and everyone involved has been identified. The news release, however, does not give information about how Hubbard was shot or if anyone has been detained or charged in the death.
The Sheriff's Office says: "At this time the moments leading up to the incident are still under investigation."
The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the New York State Police in the investigation.
