Long Stretch of 80 Degree Weather in Central New York

Break out the shorts, tank tops, flip flops and sunscreen if you're working outdoors. There's a nice stretch of above normal temperatures in Central New York.

High pressure will dominate the region through the week with temperatures rising into the 80s Wednesday and it should stay there through the weekend. Although we may see some rain by the end of the week.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 77.
Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 51.
Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 81.
Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 57.
Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 81.
Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60.
Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 80.
Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62.
Saturday: A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 80. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62.
Sunday: A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 81. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

April 9th Warmest Month

It may not have felt like it, but April was actually the ninth-warmest April, despite unusually cool temperatures in Central New York. And so far, 2021 has been the 8th warmest year on record. The average global temperature in April was 1.42 degrees above the average of 56.7 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Will the trend continue for the summer? Depends on who you ask. The Old Farmer's Almanac predicts summer temperatures will be slightly cooler than normal, with above-normal rainfall. It'll still be warm though. But we may have to wait until almost July. "The hottest periods will be in late June, early to mid-July, and early August."

August may also bring storms that The Old Farmer's Almanac says could even produce a hurricane. "Watch for a hurricane in early to mid-August."

However, the 2021 Farmer's Almanac predicts June to September will be steamy, yet stormy.

Whatever Mother Nature throws at us this summer, let's just hope we can all find time to enjoy the shortest season in Central New York.
