Paul Muldoon, a resident of Sharon Springs, received the Queens's Gold Medal for Poetry during a private audience with Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace in London on Tuesday.

Muldoon is a Pulitzer Prize winning poet and has published over 30 of his poetry collections.  He was born in Ireland in 1951.  He held the position of Professor of Poetry at Oxford University from 1999 to 2004.  Paul also was a professor of poetry at Princeton and was Poetry editor for the New Yorker magazine.  He shares his time between homes in New York City and Sharon Springs, N.Y.
