On Friday night, May 22, 2020, Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested and charged a Windsor, NY, man for possession and use of a credit card that was stolen during a burglary of a Broome County, Town of Sanford, residence in 2019.

During the course of this on-going burglary investigation, Broome County Sheriff’s Office Detectives learned the stolen credit card was utilized at a Deposit convenience store in December, 2019, and requested assistance from members of the Delaware County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division. Further investigation by Broome and Delaware County Sheriff’s Investigators revealed that on December 12, 2019, 27 year-old Dylan J. Katen, of Windsor, N.Y, used the stolen credit card at the Town of Deposit convenience store.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Katen and on Friday night, Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Katen on the warrant issued by the Delaware County Court. Katen has been with charged one felony count of criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree and the misdemeanor crime of petit larceny.

Katen was arraigned via teleconference with on-call Town of Stamford Justice Jackie Lamport on Friday night. Due to New York State Bail Reform laws, Deputies were directed to issue Katen appearance tickets and release him pending his appearance in the Deposit Town Court on a later date.

The Town of Sanford burglary investigation remains under investigation by members of the Broome County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division
