
Part of the New York State Thruway Shut Down
An early morning accident shut down all of the northbound lanes of the New York State Thruway.
Many commuters who travel on the New York State Thruway to get to and from work daily started their work week off with a massive traffic incident that resulted in portions of the 400+ mile-long highway being shut down for almost five hours.
New York State Thruway Closed
According to numerous reports, it all started at approximately 2:30 a.m. Monday, when numerous first responders were dispatched to a reported tractor-trailer rollover accident on the northbound side of the thruway. Details surrounding the accident haven't been released yet, but we do know that the accident led to the closure of all of the northbound lanes beginning at exit 18, according to a post on the New York State Thruway Authority Facebook page.

All of the traffic traveling on the northbound side of the thruway before exit 18 was diverted off the highway at the New Paltz, Poughkeepsie, NY-299 exit while emergency crews worked to clear the scene. All lanes on the southbound side of the thruway remained open, but numerous commuters told us that there were heavy delays in the area due to rubbernecking.
The northbound lanes remained closed for almost five hours and were reopened to all traffic at approximately 7:10 a.m. Monday.
What Happened?
It's unclear how the crash happened or how many vehicles were involved in the accident, but the New York State Police did say that no one was injured. When more information becomes available, we will update this article.
