A man who was struck in the chest with an arrow at the Vestal Hills Country Club has pleaded guilty to felony weapon possession counts.

Prosecutors said 24-year-old Bayso Vannavongsa of Binghamton admitted he illegally possessed three guns at the abandoned property in July 2022.

Vannavongsa acknowledged he possessed a loaded .38 caliber revolver and a 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun. He also admitted he had an SKS semi-automatic rifle capable of accepting a detachable magazine. The rifle was equipped with a bayonet mount.

Police were called to the abandoned country club on Webb Road in the town of Binghamton around 3 a.m. July 26, 2022 after a report that a man had been shot with a crossbow. Vannavongsa was taken to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City for treatment.

Investigators said Vannavongsa had been attacked by 21-year-old Carson Vanco of Endicott. After Vannavongsa was struck by the bow, authorities said he fired several shots from the revolver toward Vanco, who was not hurt.

Authorities had said Vannavongsa had been keeping a stockpile of weapons and other stolen items in a building at the old country club.

Vanco and a woman - 21-year-old Savannah Perry of Endicott - were arrested shortly after they fled the scene of the early-morning dispute. Both were charged with assault and conspiracy in connection with the incident.
