My parents have taken advantage of the New York State Golden Park Program for years and they rave about it. If you're a New York State resident aged 62 or older, the New York State Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation department is offering exclusive benefits to seniors for a more enjoyable and accessible experience in the state's parks and recreational sites.

The Golden Park Program provides eligible seniors free vehicle access to most state parks, boat launch sites, and arboretums from Monday to Friday (excluding holidays). In addition to free admission, seniors can also enjoy fee reductions at state historic sites and state-operated golf courses. All you need to do is present your currently valid New York State Driver's License or New York State Non-Driver Identification Card at the park entrance. There is no application process, as your valid ID acts as your pass.

If you don't have a New York State Driver License or a Non-Driver Identification Card, you can get one from your local Motor Vehicle office but make sure to contact them beforehand to ensure you bring all the required forms of identification.

The Golden Park Program is part of the state's commitment to ensuring that New York residents have access to and can enjoy the natural beauty and recreational opportunities provided by the state's parks and historic sites. It's a wonderful initiative that recognizes the importance of seniors in our communities and allows them to explore and experience the wonders of nature and history.

For more information about the Golden Park Program, you can visit the New York State Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation website. The website also provides information on other programs, events, and facilities available in the state parks system as well as the places in which the Golden Park Program pass is not valid, such as the Walkway Over the Hudson and Mark Twain State Park.
