Masonville, New York Man Charged With Murder of Wife

On September 4, 2024, at around 11:29 p.m., New York State Police responded to a residence on Houck Road in Masonville following a report of a domestic dispute.

After an investigation, Drew J. Garnier, 32, of Masonville, NY, was charged with Murder in the second degree, a class "A-I" felony, and two counts of Attempted Murder in the second degree.

Authorities determined that Garnier had stabbed his pregnant wife, Samantha J. Garnier, 29, and their two children.

Samantha Garnier was found inside the residence, where Troopers and Sheriff’s Deputies provided emergency aid before EMTs arrived. She was airlifted to Wilson Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries. One child was initially transported to Wilson Medical Center and later transferred to Upstate Medical Center, while the other was airlifted directly to Upstate Medical Center. Both children are expected to survive.

Drew Garnier was arrested at the scene, taken to A.O. Fox Hospital for evaluation, and later processed at SP Sidney. He was then transported to the Delaware County Correctional Facility for Centralized Arraignment and remanded without bail.

The New York State Police were assisted by the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, the Sidney, Walton, and Delhi Police Departments, LifeNet, Walton Fire Department, AMR/Delaware County Ambulance, Trout Creek Fire Department, Sidney EMS, and Ambulanz.

A press conference is scheduled for Friday, September 6.
