Governor Hochul announced that New York State would mandate the Asian Lunar New Year in February, but also all school districts will get off for Diwali as a school holiday in November, though only for New York City schools and other districts that opt-in around the State.

  • Diwali (November 1)
  • Asian Lunar New Year

In Western New York, the Williamsville school districts, including their 3 high schools will be taking off for 2 additional holidays on top of the Lunar New Year and Diwali:

  • Eid al-Fitr (April)
  • Eid al-Adh (mid June)

Parents have seemed to react positively about the inclusive changes and added holidays to the school district.
