There is going to be another holiday added to school districts in New York State this year. There have been a few holidays that are getting recognized by more schools across the State. This one will happen before this school year ends in June.

Certain districts have added new holidays to the school year. There has been at least 1 added in every school district and up to 4.

Exactly how much is enough, and does that number work for the Empire State

USDA officials are getting ready to ban chocolate milk from elementary and middle schools, if approved, in the future. They are saying there is just way too much added sugar. In fact, the flavored milk is the leading source of added sugar.

New York is one of the states that pay its teachers the highest salaries in the nation. For anyone who has ever dreamed of becoming a teacher, look to teach in our backyard in New York. USA facts and US News & World Report state that New York teachers' average salary is $76,680 – the highest in the United States.

As the school year starts focus has returned to how fairly teachers are treated for their work, and a new study ranked New York as the best state for teachers.

The New York State Union of Teachers is pushing for higher wages amid the national teacher shortage facing public schools.

If signed, it will allow them to retire early without penalty.

This forum is an opportunity for the public to meet and discuss with area legislators topics concerning our public schools.  Many of our area officials will either be on hand or will send representatives.  More than 100 attended last year...
