U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand will be in Otsego and Delaware counties to discuss broadband access on Wednesday.

With approximately 1.1 million New Yorkers without access to broadband, Senator Gillibrand will discuss her proposal at 2 p.m. at Hartwick College's Yager Hall.

Senator Gillibrand’s provision would increase access to rural broadband by creating a new grant component to the current Broadband Loan Program. This policy establishes a one-stop-shop in the federal government for private sector providers and state and local governments to acquire funding and resources to deliver high-speed Internet to businesses and families currently cut off from such service.

Then, at 3:15 p.m., Senator Gillibrand will hear firsthand from SUNY Delhi, the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce, and local businesses about the economic development potential for the Center of Excellence in Watershed Applications and Technology-Based Economic Revitalization initiative. That discussion will take place at the Centennial Center-Sanford Hall at SUNY Delhi.
