The fishing season for walleye, northern pike, pickerel and tiger muskellunge opens this weekend in New York State.  The black bass catch-and-release season is also underway in many waters around the state, but the regular bass season doesn't open until June 18. Anglers are encouraged to read the 2016-17 Freshwater Fishing Regulations guide to ensure that they are aware of the current regulations for the water they are fishing.
