Ex-SUNY Oneonta Student Offered Plea Deal In Stabbing
A former SUNY Oneonta student facing charges in the stabbing of his girlfriend has been offered a plea deal. According to Oneonta Police, Julian VanCourt-Wels attacked the woman last December in their Maple Street apartment using a kitchen knife. VanCourt-Wels’ trial was to start at Otsego County Court on Friday but prosecutors were willing to accept a guilty plea to assault where he would be sentenced to 15 years in prison. A date to obtain a decision on the plea deal is pending.
