The Edmeston Museum is excited to offer a presentation on how to safely clean gravestones by Gordon Terry, formerly of the Delker & Terry Funeral Home, on Thursday, May 9, at 7 p.m. at the Edmeston Town Court. Terry will provide instruction on how to care for gravestones while maintaining the tenet of “do no harm”. Use of various tools will be shared. The importance of using biological cleaners, such as D2 which is used by the National Parks Service, will be reiterated. Also, Terry will review what not to do (e.g. scrape with metal brush or sandpaper) or what not to use (e.g. bleach or ammonia). The presentation will be followed by light refreshments. The town court, the three story brick building located at the town’s four corners, is accessible via a ramp. The presentation is free. All are welcome.
