There are many local, fun festivals coming up this summer in our Tri-County listening area. They range from music festivals, to car shows, to food extravaganzas, to art showcases, and to just about every imaginable family fun get-together in our small communities.  Certainly, the village of Deposit has one of the most unusual ones.  Yo really should consider attending this one!

The 45th anniversary annual Lumberjack Festival will be held in Deposit (Delaware County) on Saturday July 16 and Sunday July 17.  The festival was cancelled because of COVID last year.

Among the fun events to watch, enjoy, and even participate in are a variety of amusement rides and games for the children (ride bracelets are only $20.00), a corn hole tournament, live music from the Woodshed Prophets and other local bands, fireworks at dark, a 5K Run, a horseshoe tournament, logging demonstrations, a craft fair (at the First Presbyterian Church), a bike giveaway for the youngsters, and the popular Lumberjack Parade (Sunday at 5:00 pm).  This year's parade will also feature bagpipers.

The village of Deposit ha a long and illustrious history of logging and woodworking.  In fact, back in the 1800s dozens of logging companies in the area would come to the town and dump their logs into the Delaware River where they would be floated down to larger cities at which point the logs would be fished out and manufactured into fine wood products.  So many logs would be deposited in the river, sometimes even filling it so packed that you could walk across the river on the logs without getting your feet wet, that the village was named Deposit!
