The last name "Telian" is so closely associated with Delaware County law enforcement.

We all remember the great service provided by Sheriff Levon "Stretch" Telian who was sheriff in the county for 15 years (1963-1988).  His daughter, Elizabeth, followed in her father's footsteps into area law enforcement  agencies in various positions. I recently saw on the Sheriff's social media sites that Elizabeth Telian had passed away.  It was a touching tribute to a fellow officer and we thought it would be appropriate to share their condolence message with everybody.

"It is with a heavy heart the members of the Sheriff’s Office mourn the untimely loss of former member Elizabeth (Liz) Telian. Liz was a member of the Office for more than 30 years, retiring as Head Cook of the Corrections Facility and as a Special Deputy and member of the Sheriff’s Mounted Patrol Division. Liz literally grew up in the Sheriff’s Office…her father was long-time Sheriff Levon Telian who served from 1968-1983. Liz had passionate heart for all animals, especially horses, and could always be found caring and advocating for her furry friends. Sheriff Craig DuMond and all the members of the Sheriff’s Office wish to express their heartfelt condolences to Liz’s family and friends. So long, our dear friend…."

All of us at Townsquare Media would also like to add our thoughts and prayers to Elizabeth Telian's family, friends, and fellow officers.  We thank you, and your family, for years of dedicated law enforcement service to Delaware County.
