Chobani Sends Large Shipments to Ida Relief and Afghan Evacuees
Otsego County-based Chobani is sending 100,000 units of its products each to Louisiana and New York City food banks to help with hurricane and flood recovery efforts following devastation from Hurricane Ida, while close to 100,000 cups of yogurt and other products are going to help Afghan evacuees arriving in the U.S.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul joined officials from the Edmeston, New York-based company in making the announcement that nearly 300,000 products including New York yogurt would be going to people in need.
State Agriculture Commissioner Richard Ball joined Chobani officials and the Center for Refugees in Utica to load a trailer with product heading downstate.
Chobani is also partnering with the USO to send food to Fort Lee in Virginia and Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey where evacuees from Afghanistan are being housed and supported by U.S service members. .
