The Chenango SPCA in Norwcih is one of just a handful (less than a dozen) of New York State shelters that have been chosen to be a part of the Bissell Pet Foundation's Reduced Adoption Fee national program.  More than 200 shelters and rescue organizations nationwide are participating in this event which covers 36 states.

This event, called "Empty the Shelters," will make it easier for people to adopt the pet that they are looking for.  The event will take place from May 5-9, 2021.  Be sure and check the shelter out for details and information.  Pet homelessness is a serious problem and this program will do much to help alleviate the situation in pet shelters everywhere.  A good measure of the success of the "Empty the Shelter" event is that in 2020, more than 18,000 pets nationwide found new homes.  Since the program started that figure is closer to 50,000 pets.

It is hoped that they can adopt out that many or even more this year by offering up a reduced pet adoption fee of just $25.00 at more than 200 participating shelters and rescues.

Founded in 2011, the BISSELL Pet Foundation is a charitable 501©(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to help reduce the number of animals in shelters through pet adoption, spay/neuter programs, microchipping and emergency support.

BPF urges families to do their research prior to May 5, as many participating organizations are still operating under restricted protocols and procedures. For more information on adopting for donating to Empty the Shelters, visit www.bissellpetfoundation.org/ets.
