Chenango County Sheriff Now Has Enhanced 911 System

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office now had enhanced capability for locating 9-1-1 calls from those using a cell phone to seek emergency assistance. Finding callers has been a long standing challenge as the location information is delivered by the cell carrier, not from the actual device the caller is using. The upgraded service automatically displays 9-1-1 calls within Chenango County and in many cases, the caller’s location will appear before the phone rings in the 9-1-1 center.
