Commerce Chenango President and CEO Steve Craig said that besides their many programs and member benefits, they are also the economic development agency for Chenango County.

In that capacity, the organization offers help to new businesses and existing businesses as well.

“We have a couple of revolving loan funds specifically specified at dairy, we’ve had quite a bit of interest in that lately,” Craig said. “We have some things in the pipeline that will come to fruition, they’ll enable local farmers to increase herd size, increase milk production because as you know Upstate New York is the yogurt capital of the United States and the demand for milk is pretty high. Also the business assistance loan fund is seeing some applicants as well.”

Craig says the economic development agency works in harmony with the Chamber’s goal of supporting business expansion, which will bring more jobs to the area and more customers for all its members.
