Upstate New York is loaded with fantastic old pubs and taverns. Here is a list of some bars in our region that have surpassed 100, 150 and even 200 years old. I like a bar or a tavern as much as the next person. But my enjoyment of the outing is heightened greatly if the pub has some interesting history to it. And it you are a century old, or even two centuries old, well, that bar will definitely have some great DNA behind it. Here is a list of a 14 great taverns, scattered all over Upstate New York, that have been serving up cold brews for a very long time, some more than 200 years. Obviously this list could be a lot longer, and we will revisit it in the future, but this list should adequately "wet your whistle." Have you been to any of these historic places?

There is a whole lot of star power on display in this gallery. We feature 29 celebrities who were born in Upstate New York. Many of the names are instantly familiar, such as Lucille Ball and Kirk Douglas, but it is the lesser known stars that are the most fun.
You will recognize most of these people by their faces rather than by their names. Still, no matter how small the role they played in a film or TV show, these actors left an indelible mark wherever and when ever they appeared on screen.
I mean, seriously, who can ever forget Buffalo-born actor Sorrell Booke? Name ring a bell? No? How about his character "Boss Hogg" on the hit TV show "The Dukes of Hazzard?" Now I am sure you remember him!
