Butterman to Face Mennig In New York Assembly District 122 Democratic Primary

Now that the new districting lines have been drawn across New York State, we look toward the next election which will feature two Democrat candidates vying in the Democratic primary scheduled on June 28, 2022 for the 122nd district in the New York State Assembly: Dan Butterman of Oneonta and Colton Mennig of Morrisville.

This will be Dan Buttermann's second attempt to run for this seat after running against Salka in the last election. Buttermann is an active member of his community and has served in many ways: on the Oneonta City Schools Board of Education, a council member on the Oneonta Town Planning Board, as a current board member for Opportunities for Otsego, as a current member of the Oneonta Concert Association, along with being a member of the NAACP, the Farm Bureau, and as President of the Oneonta Rotary Club.

Colton Mennig of Morrisville is a newcomer to the political arena. Mennig graduated from LeMoyne College in Syracuse and has a master’s degree in public policy from American University in Washington, D.C. With a platform representing working families like the one he grew up in, Mennig says that he has "worked with government officials and agencies to advocate for policies that help Central New York".

The winner of the Democratic primary on June 28 will face Republican Brian Miller in the upcoming November 8 election with that winner of that race representing a newly drawn 121st district which includes parts of Otsego, Madison, Oneida, and Herkimer Counties.
