Families who are selected to partner with HFHOC will be assisted in completing the steps in purchasing a home, including the application for a low-interest mortgage. Local volunteers provide the majority of labor, so our homes are sold to partner families at extremely attractive prices!

It takes about two years from the time an applicant is accepted to the home’s completion. This allows time for partner families to prepare for homeownership and to complete required homeownership education, as well as time for a house to be built. HFHOC’s Homeowner Support Committee act as mentors throughout the entire process. ###Habitat for Humanity Otsego County (HFHOC) is a non-profit, faith-based organization that is financed through donations to build simple, decent affordable homes using volunteer labor. Our purpose is to build homes and partner with low to moderate income families so that they may successfully qualify for an affordable mortgage in order to purchase one of our homes.

Our goal is to create housing opportunities for those who could not otherwise afford to purchase a home. HFHOC was established in 1989 with the mission of putting God’s love into action believing that every family has the right to a simple, decent, affordable home. HFHOC is governed by volunteer board of directors and builds on average one home per year. HFHOC provides volunteer opportunities for local residents and is proud to support Otsego County families in building strong families and strong communities.
