Apalachin Man Sentenced to 28 Months for Assaulting Federal Officers

An Apalachin man is sentenced in his plea deal on charges he assaulted a federal officer. According to court records William Surnik will be in jail for 25 months along with a 3 year term of supervised release. Prosecutors say Surnik was a parole absconder from the state of Ohio staying in the Apalachin area when U.S. Marshals tried to arrest him in March of 2017. Surmik then led officers on a chase resulting in critically injuring an officer.
