12/22/21:

What should have been a quiet winter evening in Unadilla, NY turned in a deadly confrontation with a man shot and killed. New York State Police Troop C is reporting that Wednesday evening just after 7:00 pm, police were called to a home on Lyons St. in Unadilla where a domestic dispute was happening.

According to a police report, when officers arrived, they discovered that 24-year-old Mark A. Beilby was inside the house and armed with a knife. When one of the Troopers told Beilby to drop his knife, he did not cooperate. In fact, Beilby was told many times to drop his weapon and did not comply and at one point advanced toward the trooper,  with his knife still in hand. That's when the threatened trooper fired his gun which struck Beilby.

After being shot, Beilby was transported by ambulance to Tri-Town Hospital in Sidney and then transferred to Wilson Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The case is being investigated by The New York State Attorney General’s Office along with New York State Police.

The last time a police call ended with a death was back in early October when Walton police were called to a disturbance in the village late at night. The incident ended with Walton resident Paul J. Weeden being shot and killed when he wouldn't cooperate and threatened police with a gun.
