Governor Andrew Cuomo’s office says New York’s tourism industry set new records in 2017 for total visitation, economic impact and direct spending. According to the governor’s office tourism spending was nearly $67 billion which is a more than four percent increase from 2016. That spending resulted in an economic impact of nearly $109 billion and sales tax collections of $8.5 billion. Nearly 244 million people visited the Empire State in 2017 which is five million more than the year before.
