State Police at Margaretville arrested a 16-year-old youth of Delhi, Delaware County yesterday for reckless endangerment, 1st degree (felony) and unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, 3rd degree (misdemeanor).

The arrest occurred after police received a report of an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on State Route 23, near Gladstone Hollow in Andes. When troopers attempted to stop the vehicle,  the suspect is said to have evaded them by driving erratically and speeding.

Troopers deployed a stinger tire deflation device on State Route 28, near Mountain Road in Olive, after which the suspect is said to have fled his disabled vehicle on foot until arrested a short distance away in the woods.

The youth was arraigned in the Town of Andes Court and is now in the Delaware County Jail in lieu of $3,000 cash bail.
