New Jersey Fugitive Arrested in Town of Afton

On Friday May 2nd, The Chenango County Sheriff's Office and the New York State Police arrested Douglas Scherr, 33, of Budd Lake, NJ at a residence in the Town of Afton.

Information had been received that Scheer was a fugitive from State of New Jersey justice on a charge of arson.

Scherr was arraigned in the Town of Norwich court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility with no bail. He will to re-appear in Chenango County court on Monday May 5th.

Scheer is accused of attempting to set an apartment building on fire using an candle and propane tanks. More information courtesy of NewJersey.com.
