University at Albany Inspector Aran Mull confirmed that the cause of death for 2012 Oneonta High School graduate Jared Trotti was pulmonary edema.

Trotti was found dead in his car in a visitor's parking lot on the UAlbany campus early Saturday morning.

Pulmonary edema is a condition caused by fluid that collects in the air sacs in the lungs, making it difficult to breathe, according to the Mayo Clinic. Heart problems are the No. 1 cause of the condition. Other possible factors include pneumonia and exposure to certain toxins and medications.

Full lab results for Trotti are expected within 60 days, according to Mull.

Trotti's funeral is schedule for 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at United Methodist Church in Oneonta. The calling hours are at 1 p.m. the same day.
