Recently, while I was hosting my Oldies Show on WSRK FM 103.9 on Thursday nights, a listener called me with a request.  The song was "The Morning After," by Maureen McGovern.

Well, I looked and looked in my vast library of old songs and I couldn't come up with it.  So I went to my trusty tool...YouTube.  They have everything.

I cued the song up and then made the request.  As the song played in my headphones I watched the video on YouTube.  And it was then that I re-discovered one of my favorite Top Ten movies of all time, The Poseidon Adventure.

Long before green screens, CGI, plastic monster, miniatures in bathubs and lots of stunt doubles, this 1972 flick was the real deal.  So many wonderful memories of this great movie came back while I watched the video of Maureen's title song.  An interesting side note is that the singer in the movie is not actress Carol Lynley, who couldn't carry a tune in a bucket, but rather an unknown session singer named Renee Armand.  After the movie was a smash hit Maureen McGovern went in and covered the song.  Her version went to #1 and was nominated for an Academy Award.

Do you agree?  Is the Poseidon Adventure one of the all time great movies?  Watch the video below, and listen to the song.
