KINGSTON, N.Y. (AP) — Police say a lost wallet containing nearly $500 has been returned to its owner after being found by a homeless man living on the streets of a Hudson Valley city.

Detective lt. Thierry Crozier of the Kingston Police Department says the man found the wallet lying on a sidewalk Sunday and turned it in to police. The wallet contained $485 and the owner's identification.

Crozier tells local media that he posted details of what he calls a "feel-good story" on the department's Facebook page to let people know about the man's honesty.

The 50-year-old man lives on Kingston's streets. He declined to give the newspaper his name. He says he turned in the cash-filled wallet to police because it was "the right thing to do."
